People and Places of the Past
Map and History
We encourage you to explore the numerous historic landscapes cradled within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The historic properties map will invite you into each highlighted site for a link to history, photos and projects.
Pick up a copy of our Field Guide at the Port Oneida Heritage Center that will provide information on each farm. Park your cars and consider hiking and biking where appropriate to maintain the peaceful, pastoral landscape.
Please do not enter vacant buildings, or damage them in any way.
Some structures are in poor condition so take care to stay at a distance for your safety.
Please respect private properties in the Lakeshore.
