
COURSE OVERVIEW:
This beginner-friendly class will introduce you to the art of hand-sewing leather and canvas using a sewing awl. You will learn basic leather working skills while making a small pouch-style project and also a small wallet completely by hand.
During the class, students will learn simple pattern-making, how to mark and cut leather, how to set up and thread a sewing awl, and basic hand-sewing techniques for joining leather pieces together.
Each student will receive a small tool kit to take home, including:
- A sewing awl
- A scratch awl
- Cloth measuring tape
- Extra needles
By the end of the class, you will have completed two small leather projects and gained the basic skills needed to continue sewing leather, canvas, and other heavy materials on your own
REQUIRED TOOLS:
- Required tools/materials are provided by your instructor an and will be available once the course begins.
- Participants should bring lunch.
