COURSE OVERVIEW:
Try your hand at gel plate monoprinting to make decorative papers, postcards, and booklets. With gel plates, you can transfer drawings and images from a variety of media, and make botanical prints, graphic art, and collages. We will use the historic and cultural landscapes of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore as our muse for imagery, prose, and poetry.
INSTRUCTOR BIO:
Nancy McKay specializes in presenting programs that tune into cultural, historic, and natural features of national parks and other protected landscapes. She uses artistic means (such as writing, painting, and printmaking) by which students deepen their understanding of these places. She has served as artist-in-residence in 4 national parks, as a volunteer interpretive park ranger at 10 national parks, and on the faculty of the John C. Campbell Folkschool.
