Featuring the Boekeloo Log Cabin

In celebration of annual Michigan Log Cabin Day, Sleeping Bear Forever will be highlighting the Boekeloo Cabin, one of six log cabins on the mainland in the Park.

Stuart Boekeloo is a descendant who will be on-site to share history and stories of his family’s time at the cabin.

Check out our preservation of the cabin, having restored the windows, door, bridge and property fence, and replaced and repaired logs. Location: The cabin is set at the end of a two mile two-track in the Platte River area of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. A peaceful location on a cranberry bog with a path from the cabin to Lake Michigan, it’s a hidden favorite for many.

Log Cabins of Sleeping Bear

The log cabins of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore are free to visit any time throughout the year with a national park pass. Many cabins are tucked into the natural landscape with limited roadside parking. Please use care when parking and caution when crossing roads.
