Fall Tours

Gather your family, friends or co-workers and book your private group tour this fall! We will take reservations from September through mid-October for mutually agreeable dates. Meet at: Port Oneida Heritage Center/Olsen Farm

Clip clop back in time to experience the Port Oneida Rural Historic District the way they did in the late 1800s – early 1900s! Learn about the life of the early pioneers, and their landscape as we travel by horse and wagon through the fields and side roads of this significant agricultural community of over 100 years, with beautiful vistas and farmsteads. Our Horses:  The stars of the tours are our two Belgium horses Mick and May. You will learn more about the horses on the tour!

GROUP RENTAL Rent the entire wagon for your family or event! Either for our regular Thursday ride or by appointment. Cost: $392 Please call 231-640-0148.

Reservations required

PLEASE MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY! Wagon holds 12-14 people. We have a minimum number of reservations needed to conduct the tour. You will receive a confirmation of your tour when the minimum has been reached.

In person reservations: Can be made up to 3 pm the day before at the Port Oneida Heritage Center. Pay by cash, check or credit card.

No -shows will be not receive refunds.

Length of tour: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes with some variation.

Cost: $30 ages 13 and above; $20 per child 4-12. Children 3 and under on parent or guardian laps are free.

Groups: We may be able to accommodate a different day for a full-wagon group rental. Please contact us.

Arrival: Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour.

Location and Parking: Park and meet at the Port Oneida Farms Heritage Center at the Charles Olsen farm.

Our Wagon: While the term “carriage” is a bit citified for our tour, the wagon is a comfortable carriage with padded seats and back with two steps on the back which most of the time, can provide accessibility to less mobile folks. Food is not allowed on the wagon, but water is fine. Allow time after the tour to explore our exhibits in the Port Oneida Heritage Center!

Children age 4 and under: The goal of our tours is to provide a fun and educational experience for all participants.  We welcome children as long as they are not disruptive to the other guests.

Inclement weather/Cancellations:

Tours will run rain or shine unless there is thunder/lightning before the departure or it is a downpour or anything that we feel will be unsafe for the horses and participants including possibly over 90 degree heat.  If it is raining at the time of departure on-site, you may cancel your reservation for no penalty.  If you bring umbrellas please let your driver and guide know before you open them to avoid spooking the horses. We require a cancellation by 7 pm the day before the tour departures for no charge and a full refund. If you cancel after 7 pm the amount you paid will not be refunded. This includes if the number of your group changes – you will be responsible for the last number of people reserved. Your cancellation may affect the entire tour.
