Conrad Hutzler Farm
Preservation Projects
Hutzler Farm Shed 2005
Preserve disassembled it, constructed new stone foundation, and reassembled on new foundation using existing and appropriate new material made of black locust, hemlock and pine.
Hutzler Historic Field Clearing 2005
Maintaining historic agricultural fields is important to preserving the viewscapes and integrity of the farms. Hundreds of trees and bushes have overtaken fields on South Manitou Island. Preserve cleared close to 20 acres with brush hog equipment. Debris was piled for eventual burning under the Park’s fire management plan.
