DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nCOURSE OVERVIEW: \nEnjoy a day of learning how to bake traditional German pretzels & German marzipan candy making. You can soak up learning about these German traditional foods by signing up for one class or making a whole fun day of signing up for both. The Pretzel class comes with a lunch of Bratwurst\, sauerkraut\, and pretzels. The marzipan class ends on a sweet note with decorate-your-own dessert. \n  \nINSTRUCTOR BIO: \nJeff Pavlik spent his high school years living in Germany eating pretzels. Moving back to the United States\, he completed degrees in American History and interdisciplinary Studies\, then bought a neighborhood bakery in Farmington\, Michigan. For 25 years he crafted breads\, pastries and cakes but was renowned in Southeast Michigan for his pretzels. Jeff instructs and practices historic baking and foodways at museums around the country and shares this information on his Facebook page- Old World Bread.His pretzel class was designed as a STEAM class ( Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Arts and Math) so expect to learn more than just how to make a pretzel! “Chef Jeff” as his students call him\, is now the Culinary Arts Instructor of the Career Tech program at Lincoln High School in Warren\, Michigan. \n  \nKim Parr is a University of Michigan graduate with over thirty years of experience in the museum field\, specializing in immersive\, hands-on interpretation of everyday life in the past. Drawing on her wokr as the living history on-site coordinator at the Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village and as Curator of the Selinsky-Green Farmhouse\, she brings a deep understanding of domestic history to life.
