DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nCOURSE OVERVIEW: \nThis beginner-friendly class will introduce you to the art of hand-sewing leather and canvas using a sewing awl. You will learn basic leather working skills while making a small pouch-style project and also a small wallet completely by hand. \nDuring the class\, students will learn simple pattern-making\, how to mark and cut leather\, how to set up and thread a sewing awl\, and basic hand-sewing techniques for joining leather pieces together. \nEach student will receive a small tool kit to take home\, including: \n\nA sewing awl\nA scratch awl\nCloth measuring tape\nExtra needles\n\nBy the end of the class\, you will have completed two small leather projects and gained the basic skills needed to continue sewing leather\, canvas\, and other heavy materials on your own \nINSTRUCTOR BIO: \nI am a self taught craftsman in leather and wood. The skills I have \, come from a lifetime with tools in my hand\, and ideas in my head.\n\nFor the past 32 years of my life \, I have been owner\, manager\, and designer for the Leelanau Trading Company . A company I created in 1994 to sell my craft work. With the process of running a business\, I have learned\, and developed unique leather working procedures\, that have helped make our business successful and thrive.\n\nI have always found joy\, and contentment in making things. And have been very fortunate\, and thankful to have been able to make a living with my hands. I want to spend  sometime now passing on some òf the skills I have \,that make me happy.\n\nREQUIRED TOOLS: \n\nRequired tools/materials are provided by your instructor an and will be available once the course begins.\nParticipants should bring lunch.\n\nCOURSE DATES \nAugust 13th 10am-12pm | 12:30pm-2:30pm lunch in between \nCOURSE DETAILS: (MINIMUM 8 MAXIMUM 10) \nTuition: $100 \nSupply fee to the Instructor: $25

Working with bulky yarn and straightforward construction\, you’ll learn buttonholes\, finishing techniques\, and project assembly while creating a piece that fits beautifully into almost any style\, from cottage to cabin. Expect patient guidance\, plenty of encouragement\, and a welcoming atmosphere where every stitch becomes part of a shared story.  \n  \nINSTRUCTOR BIO: \nLiz Neddo is the owner and curator behind Wool & Honey\, a Michigan yarn shop rooted in slow craft\, community gathering\, and thoughtfully sourced fiber. With years of experience teaching knitters of all skill levels\, Liz creates welcoming spaces where students can build confidence\, learn practical skills\, and reconnect with handmade traditions.
